The Real #FyreFest will be at Red Rocks July 26th and 27th.

Fuck what Billy McFarland, Netflix, and Hulu have made you think.  There will be in fact a Fire fest in 2019 and it ain’t on Pablo Escobar’s private island.

It’s coming to Red Rocks Amphitheatre and is EASILY the concert event of the summer.  Fuck Coachella, Fuck Lollapalooza, and Fuck Wakarusa too.  If you’ve a smidge of good taste in music as well as an appreciation of a nice venue, you’ll be in Morrison, Colorado on Friday July 26th to see The Tedeschi Trucks Band with Blackberry Smoke and Shovels and Rope.

If you are unfamiliar with these bands just trust me in that all three are easily good enough to see solo and make some of the hottest shit going right now in their respective genre.  The fact that all three are playing at the same time and at the same venue…incredibly awesome.

For those uninitiated…Allow me to introduce.

Tedeschi Trucks Band:

Susan Tedeschi arguably has the best voice going right now and with the range to match.  One moment she’s singing you a silky lullaby that’ll flow right into an old gospel song only to rock your face off when that’s done with a cover of the Allman Brothers.  In fact, the Allman Brothers are featured quite a bit from the Tedeschi Trucks.  The other face of the band Susan’s husband Derek Trucks played prominently in the Allman Brothers Band for a bit, and is the nephew of the longtime ABB Drummer Butch Trucks.

Blackberry Smoke:

While some may throw Blackberry Smoke in the Country genre, I will refrain from doing so.  It’s especially lazy when you look at the state of Country music right now.

No.  Blackberry Smoke to me is what you would get if Lynyrd Skynard and the Black Crowes spent a little too much time at the bar together and had a regretable night.  9 months later, out would pop Blackberry Smoke.  Part Southern Rock, part Country, and part Rock N’ Roll, you can’t pidgeon hole them in one or the other due to the diversity of their music.

Shovels and Rope:

If  Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show has a female counterpart, it’s Carey Anne Hearst of Shovels and Rope.  She has a raspy voice riddled with Dylan-esque imperfections that brings an authenticity to the Southern Gothic/Bluegrass/Folk Genre.  Hearing Shovels and Rope play instantly triggers imagery from the O’ Brother Where Art Thou era of America; and thank God someone gave her a can to sing into.  To hear the natural and unfiltered talent of both members of the band (Carey Anne’s husband Michael Trent as well) brings you back to a simpler time in American history.

So while all of the trust funders and influencers are having dick measuring contests about their Coachella outfits, trust me and put your time and money to good use.  It’s in a top 5 venue in the country with a collection of talent you’ll be hard pressed to beat anywhere; Oh and it’s TWO days.  This would a big event on my radar with simply the Tedeschi Trucks Band.  Throw in Blackberry Smoke and Shovels and Rope? It’s simply a Must Attend at this point.

Oh, and it’s in Colorado where you can um…do some things legally you can’t really do most other places, if you catch my drift.
